Overview

The twentieth and the twenty first centuries have seen a sequence of happenings with vast developments in the field of science and technology. Arguably, these developments involve Chemistry, which is called the Central Science as it connects the physical sciences with the life sciences and applied sciences such as medicine and engineering. In short, Chemistry is intensely concerned with nature which involves food, water, energy and health care. Nevertheless, with the basic knowledge of Chemistry, a person can understand the world better. Therefore, an advanced course in chemistry will be an attractive experience in understanding our nature and solving the problems of humankind. The programme has been planned to inculcate the aspiring candidates so as to afford widespread exposure on various aspects of Chemistry by preparing the students with state-of-the-art scientific resources.

Appropriateness of programme to be conducted in distance learning mode to acquire skills and competence:

The ODL programme is a custom-made programme particularly designed for the employees of chemistry related sectors as it is more economic and simultaneously done while continuing their full-time employment. In addition, their skills and capability in this particular field could be enhanced without disturbing their work schedule. The Programme could be considered appropriate to be conducted in ODL mode.

Syllabus and Curriculum

  1. The curriculum and the syllabus are designed as per the UGC norms for the programme to benefit students in getting equivalence certificate for state and central government jobs.
  2. The curriculum will cover the content of all the state and central government examinations such as CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, SET and GATE.
  3. Special elective papers like, Instrumental Methods of Chemical Analysis, Research Methodology and IPR, Supramolecular Chemistry and Green Chemistry, Applied Electrochemistry etc., are offered to incorporate cutting-edge technologies
  4. Curriculum is vetted by eminent academicians from universities, the institutes of national eminence and industry experts.
